20 Euroleague Basketball referees working World Championships
Euroleague Basketball is pleased to report that 20 of its referees have been selected to officiate the games of the 2010 FIBA World Championships in Turkey. In addition, the Euroleague's Director of Referees, Costas Rigas, will serve as the Referee Supervisor for the Group B first round games to be held in Istanbul. The group of 20 Euroleague Basketball referees includes many of those chosen to oversee the Euroleague's most important games, including Romualdas Brazauskas of Lithuanian and David Chambon of France, both of whom worked the 2010 Euroleague title game in Paris. Two other referees, Olegs Latisevs of Latvia and Christos Christodoulou of Greece, were also on crews at the 2010 Euroleague Final Four. Five others, Fernando Rocha of Portugal, Luigi Lamonica of Italy, Srdan Dozai of Croatia, Carl Jungebrand of Finland and Eddie Viator of France, officiated at the 2010 Eurocup Finals. Rocha and Lamonica oversaw the Eurocup title game. Rocha, Lamonica, Dozai, Jungebrand and Viator as well as Juan Carlos Arteaga of Spain, Ilija Belosevic of Serbia, Sasa Pukl of Slovenia, Boris Ryzhyk of Ukraine and Jakub Zamojski of Poland have all refereed in the past at Euroleague Final Fours.
