German champion Brose Bamberg has announced the arrival of the 7DAYS EuroCup's career leader in rebounds, Vladimir Veremeenko, who will play in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague for just the second time in his career. Veremeenko (2.08 meters, 32 years old) won the 2011 EuroCup with Unics Kazan, He had his only previous EuroLeague experience with Unics the following season, when he averaged 8.5 points, 6 rebounds and 0.9 blocks in 17 games. He has spent most of his career dominating the paint in the EuroCup, where his 609 career rebounds, 213 offensive rebounds and 130 games played are all records. Veremeenko also ranks among the competition’s career leaders in free throws made (246, fifth), scoring (1,036 points, eighth) and blocks (63, tied for ninth). He arrives from Grissin Bon Reggio Emilia, where he averaged 7 points and 4.7 rebounds in 14 EuroCup games and 9.1 points and 5.2 boards in the Italian League last season.
Veremeenko spent the bulk of his career in Russia, including six seasons with Unics from 2008 through 2014. Veremeenko started his career at Saratov in 2002 and played there for two seasons and also spent two seasons each with Dynamo Saint Petersburg and Khimki Moscow Region. After leaving Unics, he played one season with Banvit Bandirma of Turkey before signing with Reggio Emilia. His trophy collection includes winning the 2005 FIBA Europe League with Dynamo, two Russian Cups with Unics and another with Khimki.
