Top 16 Week 1 co-MVPs: Scoonie Penn, Marcus Goree
Scoonie Penn - Olympiacos The Top 16 opened with opposite fortunes for the two players who tied for the best individual performance of Week 1. Scoonie Penn helped Olympiacos to an all-important road win at Partizan in Group E, while an equally strong outing by Marcus Goree of Benetton wasn't enough for his team against Unicaja in Group G. Each finished with an index rating of 35. Penn earned his first MVP honor of the season by scoring 27 points on 4-for-9 three-point and 9-for-10 free-throw shooting against Partizan. He added 2 rebounds, 3 steals and 8 fouls drawn for a 35 index. Goree had 24 points on 6-for-8 two-point and 4-of-6 three-point shooting against Unicaja. He added 7 rebounds, an assist, 4 steals, 3 blocks and 3 fouls drawn to also amass a 35 index. It marks the first time in his five-year Euroleague career that Goree has won a weekly MVP honor.
