Playoffs Game 4 MVP: Malik Hairston, Montepaschi
One week after reviving his team after a record loss, Malik Hairston topped himself by putting on another Sportingbet MVP performance in Game 4 of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Playoffs to send Montepaschi Siena to the Final Four with its third victory in a row over Olympiacos Piraeus, 88-76. Hairston scored a season-high 25 points by making 7 of 10 two-point shots, 1 of 3 three-pointers and 8 of 9 free throws. He added 7 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal in racking up a performance index rating of 31. That almost matched his breakout game a week earlier, when Hairston posted a double-double and a 32 index rating to become Sportingbet Playoffs Game 2 MVP. Hairston is the first player to win the nightly MVP honor twice in the playoffs. The second best individual performance on Thursday belonged to the hero of Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv’s series-clinching 99-77 win over Caja Laboral, Jeremy Pargo, who posted 26 points and 7 assists for a 27 index rating. Pargo made 5 of 7 two-point and 4 of 6 three-point shots for his season-high point total, as well. The Power Electronics Valencia guard duo of Omar Cook and Nando De Colo were tied for the third-best individual efforts of Game, each with index ratings of 23 4 in their team’s 81-72 victory over Real Madrid. Cook recorded 16 points, 7 assists and 5 steals, while De Colo had 12 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals, sending their series to a fifth and final game next week. Fifth on the list of top performers for Game 4 was Maccabi small forward Guy Pnini, who assumed the starting role of injured guard Doron Perkins and reeled off a career-high 22 points on 5-of-7 three-point shooting plus 4 assists for a performance index rating of 22.
Individual highs: Jeremy Pargo of Maccabi Electra, 26 points
Maccabi Electra guard Jeremy Pargo was the top scorer of Playoffs Game 4 with a 26-point performance against Caja Laboral. Pargo’s 17.3 points on averaged rank second in the Playoffs behind Panathinaikos playmaker Dimitris Diamantidis, who finished with 18 per game. Pargo’s teammate, Richard Hendrix, pulled down more rebounds than any other player on Thursday with 8. He finished the Playoffs with 7.8 rebounds per game, which leads all players. Pargo, Caja Laboral forward Fernando San Emeterio and Valencia point guard Omar Cook all dished 7 assists on Thursday. Cook remains the Playoffs leader with 7.3 assists per game. Cook’s 5 steals were most in Playoffs Game 4 as well. Cook is tied with Real Madrid counterpart Pablo Prigioni and Olympiacos guard Jamon Gordon for the most average steals in the Playoffs with 2.3 per game. Hendrix, teammate Lior Eliyahu and Olympiacos big man Ioannis Bourousis top the Game 4 charts with 2 blocks apiece. Hendrix is the Playoffs No. 1 shot-blocker with 2.5 blocks per game.
