Efes Pilsen continued solidifying its roster Tuesday by taking an option to extend forward Cenk Akyol's contract for another season. Akyol (1.97 meters, 24 years old) played very little in the last Turkish Airlines Euroleague season, his sixth in two stints with Efes. Akyol appeared in just 4 games, averaging 3 minutes and 1 point in each, but put up 6.2 points in 13 minutes per game in the Turkish League. Akyol had grown up in the Efes junior system and debuted in the Euroleague for the club at age 17, back in 2004-05. He played the next four years with Efes, too, although in 2007-08 he left the club to finish that season with Galatasaray of Turkey. His highest production in the Euroleague came in 2006-07, when he averaged 5.9 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1 steal per game for Efes. He spent the 2009-10 season with Avellino of Italy before returning to Efes last season.
