FB Ulker brings in Bogdanovic, Gist
Just fresh from another Turkish League crown, Fenerbahe Ulker already announced two new signings for the next season, which will see the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Final Four hosted in its home city, Istanbul. The two new faces are forwards Bojan Bogdanovic, coming from Cibona Zagreb, and James Gist, arriving from Partizan Belgrade. Both players are pending medical tests but they have been announced by the club. Bogdanovic (2.00 meters, 22 years old) had his best season in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague this year with Cibona as in 10 starting game appearances he averaged 18.0 points 3.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists to lead his team in the regular season. He had a career-high game against Lietuvos Rytas on December 23 in which he scored 28 points, dished 4 assists and had 4 steals in 40 minutes for a performance index rating of 34. He grew up with BC Zrinjski Mik Company Mostar (Bosnia) youth teams and soon moved to Spain for the 2005-06 season, signed by Real Madrid. While in Spain, he never had the big chance to play for the Real Madrid first team and he moved back to Croatia during the summer of 2009 to join Cibona until now. Bogdanovic is one of the staple names at the current national team of Croatia.
Gist (2.06 meters, 24 years old) arrives from a hot debut season in the Euroleague with Partizan. Last season, he averaged 11.4 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 14 appearances. Gist played college ball at Maryland from 2004 to 2008, and during the summer of that year he crossed the pond towards Italy, where he played with Biella. He averaged 12.5 points in the Italian League and caught the attention of Lokomotiv Kuban, the team that took him to Russia. He was the blocks leader in that league and during the summer of 2010 he was signed by Partizan to make his debut in the Euroleague.
