Antonis Fotsis - Panathinaikos_32999A current and three-time continental champion has decided to take his talents to a new country as Armani Jeans Milano of Italy announced Friday that it has signed forward Antonis Fotsis for two seasons. Fotsis (2.09 meters, 30 years old) arrives from defending champ Panathinaikos, with whom he won the Turkish Airlines Euroleague title in May to go along with previous ones in 2000 and 2009. Last season, Fotsis averaged 8.4 points and 5.1 rebounds and was among the protagonists for the Greens at the 2011 Turkish Airlines Euroleague Final Four, where he played the second-most minutes for the Greens. Fotsis finished the season with the fourth-best two-point shooting accuracy, 76.1%, since the 2000, with more of those shots made than any of the players who ranked higher. Fotsis started playing at Ilisiakos of Greece and in 1997 was signed by Panathinaikos. Three years later, he won his first Euroleague title with the Greens, while still a teenager. Fotsis played for Memphis of the NBA in 2001-02 but was back to Panathinaikos the following season. After that, he played two years in Spain with Real Madrid before joining Dynamo Moscow, with whom he won the 2006 ULEB Cup title. Fotsis returned to Panathinaikos in 2008 and the following spring at the Final Four in Berlin lifted his second Euroleague trophy with the Greens. With his latest Euroleague title, Fotsis is among less than 50 players in European history who have conquered the continent three times or more. Fotsis is also a member of the Greek national team, with which he won a gold medal at the 2005 Eurobasket, a silver medal at the 2006 World Championship and the bronze medal at the 2009 Eurobasket. He has also won eight Greek Leagues and one Spanish League title, in 2005 with Real Madrid.
