VEF Riga reached a new agreement with forward Tyler Cain to extend his contract until the end of the 2012-13 season, the club announced Wednesday. Cain (2.04 meters, 22 years old) averaged 4.8 points and 5.2 rebounds in 6 Eurocup games last season. He did better in the Latvian League, averaging 9.5 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.6 steals in 18 games, helping his team to win the title. Cain also reached the Baltic League final with VEF last season. VEF is Cain's first stop in his professional career once he got his degree at the University of South Dakota (NCAA2). As a senior, Cain averaged 14.7 points, 19.4 rebounds and 3 blocks in 32 NCAA2 games, leading the Coyotes to lift the Great West Conference trophy.
