Milano lands Drew Nicholas!

Drew Nicholas - PanathinaikosA two-time Turkish Airlines Euroleague champion and former Top Scorer Trophy winner switched teams and countries on Saturday as Emporio Armani Milano announced the arrival of shooting guard Drew Nicholas, last seen raising the continental trophy with Panathinaikos in the spring. Nicholas (1.93 meters, 30 years old) averaged 9.8 points and 1.7 assists in 20 Euroleague games last season, helping Panathinaikos reach the pinnacle of European competition for the second time in their three seasons together. Nicholas played a pivotal role in this season's Turkish Airlines Euroleague title game against Maccabi Electra with 14 points off the bench. In his three seasons with Panathinaikos, Nicholas helped the team to win three consecutive Greek League titles and lift another Euroleague trophy in 2009. He joined Panathinaikos from Efes Pilsen, averaging 16.5 points and 2.9 assists in 14 Euroleague games in the 2008-09 season. He has spent his entire professional career in Europe after an impressive college basketball career at the University of Maryland, where he helped the Terrapins lift the 2002 NCAA title. Nicholas started in Italy suiting up for Fabriano Basket and then Basket Livorno, leading the Italian League in scoring in each season with 27.1 and 22.8 points per game, respectively. He finished the 2004-05 season with Tau Ceramica in Spain and then came back to Italy for the 2005-06 season, signed by Benetton Treviso. At Benetton, Nicholas won the 2006 Alphonso Ford Top Scorer Trophy, averaging 18.4 points in 20 games, and won the Italian championship. He moved to Efes Pilsen in the summer of 2006 and helped the team win the 2007 Turkish Cup before joining Panathinaikos. Milano will be his fourth Euroleague team.
