VEF Riga reached an agreement with center Antanas Kavaliauskas, who inked a one-year deal with the Latvian League champion on Friday. Kavaliauskas (2.08 meters, 26 years old) arrives from Prima Veroli, where he averaged 9.9 points on 66.2% two-point shooting and 4.6 rebounds in 37 Italian second division games last season. He helped Veroli to win the Italian second division Cup. Kavaliauskas has also played for JuveCaserta in Italy, Kavala/Panorama and Panionios in Greece, Statyba Vilnius in Lithuania, as well as for the Barton County Community College and the Texas A&M University in the United States. He has also been a member of the Lithuanian under-21 national team and played at the 2007 World University Championships in Bangkok, Thailand. Kavaliauskas will now try to help his team to reach the Turkish Airlines Euroleague through the Qualifying Rounds.
