Dijon Thompson - Hapoel JerusalemAsvel Basket made an important pick up at small forward by signing Dijon Thompson, who comes off an injury-plagued year with Spartak St. Petersburg. Thompson (2.01 meters, 28 years old) averaged 12 points, 6 rebounds and 1.7 steals in the FIBA EuroChallenge and 10.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.3 steals in the Russian League, but missed the second half of the season with a knee injury. He was the Eurocup’s steals leader with 2.4 per game the previous season with Hapoel Jerusalem. Thompson enjoyed a standout college basketball career at UCLA and played for Atlanta and Phoenix in the NBA and Albuquerque in the D-League before starting his European career with Alba Berlin in 2007. He also spent one season with Azovmash, which he led to the 2009 Ukrainian League title. Thompson also won the Israeli Cup with Hapoel in 2010.

"Dijon is a talented player and recognized throughout Europe," Laurent Foirest, Asvel’s head of basketball operations said. "After injuring a knee, Dijon has decided to relaunch his career with Asvel. The French League will discover a great player."
