Asvel hands reins to Goss
Phil GossAsvel Basket found a new point guard in Phil Goss, who signed a one-year deal with the French powerhouse this weekend. Goss (1.86 meters, 28 years old) arrives from Cimberio Varese, where he averaged 14.8 points, 3 rebounds and 3.8 assists in 33 Italian League games last season, helping his team to make it to the playoffs. Goss has also played for Scafati Basket and Basket Rimini in Italy, Ironi Ashkelon in Israel, AZS Koszalin in Poland, Beykozspor in Turkey and Bergen Op Zoom in Holland. He also shined throughout his college career at Drezel University, as Goss was chosen to the All-Colonial Athletic Association's first team in 2004. "We are pleased to welcome Phil Goss in out team. He has been playing in Europe for a long time," Asvel head of basketball operations Laurent Foirest said. "Not only he is a team player, Goss is a good defender who is able to score."
