Banvit gets Hammonds

Cliff Hammonds - Asvel Basket (photo Buducnost)Banvit improved its backcourt by adding combo guard Cliff Hammonds, who inked a one-year deal with his new team on Monday. Hammonds (1.91 meters, 25 years old) arrives from Asvel Basket, where he averaged 11.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 4 assists in 6 Eurocup games last season. Hammonds has also played for Peristeri Athens in Greece, Quebradillas Pirates in Puerto Rico, as well as for Darussafaka and Efes Pilsen in Turkey. He helped Quebradillas to reach the Puerto Rican League finals in 2009. Hammonds also led Clemson University to the NIT title game in 2007. Hammonds will now try to make Banvit reach the Turkish Airlines Euroleague for the first time in club history if it survives the Qualifying Rounds.
