Buducnost inks center Vucevic

Nikola VucevicMontenegrin powerhouse KK Buducnost Voli bolstered its frontcourt for the upcoming season by inking center Nikola Vucevic to a one-year deal this weekend. Vucevic (2.13 meters, 20 years old) arrives from the University of Southern California, where he averaged 17.1 points, 10.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 34 NCAA games last season, in which he was chosen to the All-Pac-10 first team. He helped the Trojans to win the Pac-10 Tournament in 2009. Vucevic is also a member of the Montenegrin national team and will play at EuroBasket 2011 as Partizan mt:s center Nikola Pekovic's backup. His father Borislav was also a famous basketball player. He helped Bosna Sarajevo to win the Euroleague title in 1979. Vucevic started his career with Mornar Bar, coached by his father. He joined Stoneridge Prep School in California in summer 2007 because being recruited by USC. Vucevic has become Buducnost's sixth signing this summer, as the team keeps getting ready for the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Qualifying Rounds. Buducnost faces Lietuvos Rytas in Vilnius, Lithuania in Game 1 of the Qualifying Round on September 29.
