Euroleague Basketball, bwin partnership presented in Athens
Euroleague Basketball, bwin deal presentation in AthensThe dynamic new partnership between Euroleague Basketball and bwin.party digital entertainment was the subject of a presentation ceremony in Athens on Wednesday with representatives of Greece's most emblematic Turkish Airlines Euroleague clubs, Olympiacos and Panathinaikos, and Eurocup club PAOK, joining in the fun. Euroleague Basketball and bwin this year recently announced to a three-year marketing and media rights agreement for Euroleague events that will run through June of 2014. Wednesday's ceremony featured comments from Jordi Bertomeu, President and CEO of Euroleague Basketball, as well as those of bwin.party representative Thomas Tzokas.

Jordi Bertomeu, Euroleague Basketball President and CEO

"I want to say that we are proud to be here in a city with a huge number of Turkish Airlines Euroleague fans and two of the most-awarded teams in European basketball history. Many things have changed since we started the Euroleague in 2000: many good things, some mistakes, and lots of dreams. Today, it's a fact that our league has grown dramatically. We have good signs of this growth. We have seen how we had only 12.5% of our clubs with arenas for 10,000 fans in 2000. Now, 55% of them have arenas that big. And we have new arenas this season in Lithuania and Istanbul. Our TV distribution over the same decade has gone from 15 countries to 163. This season, we have a new, higher-quality Euroleague.TV on-line platform that lets fans everywhere see our games when they want. And our arena attendance continues to increase.

"All of this growth has a common objective. We want more fans and we want to be closer to those fans. This growth has also allowed us to be linked to the biggest brands, too. This is the purpose of today's event, to present our agreement with the strongest brand in the betting industry. Bwin and Euroleague Basketball have committed to work together for the next three years to get closer to our fans and to bridge the gap. We want to get closer to fans through bwin Euroleague Fanstasy Challenge, through bwin's new fan MVP initiative, and through more initiatives to come in the future.

"So today I would like to thank bwin for recognizing Euroleague Basketball as a partner that can help them. Our commitment will always be to help bwin. My thanks go also to Thomas Tzokas for his help in developing these bridges we are going to build to our fans."

Mr. Thomas Tzokas, bwin.party representative

"First of all, I would like to thank Mr. Jordi Bertomeu, President and CEO of Euroleague Basketball, for honoring us with his presence here. As you may already know, bwin.party has signed a sponsoring agreement until 2014 with Euroleague Basketball. Euroleague becomes a strategic partner that, along with our FIBA sponsorship, increases our presence in basketball on a club level. Basketball, along with football and motorsports, is one of the three pillars of bwin's sponsorship strategy. In conclusion, I'd like to wish good luck to all the Greek teams which are taking part in the Euroleague and the Eurocup."
