Week 4 bwin MVP: Nicolas Batum, SLUC Nancy
SLUC Nancy forward Nicolas Batum was at his best against on Thursday with a brilliant all-around performance to lead the French champs to a 90-85 win over previously unbeaten Caja Laboral. The victory made Nancy 2-0 at home this season and just like in their previous win in front of French fans, Batum was the star of the show and subsequently earned Week 4 bwin MVP honors. Batum amassed an impressive stat line of 21 points with just 3 missed shots in addition to 9 rebounds, 4 assists and a block en route to a performance index rating of 35. Beyond the numbers, Batum was also crucial to the Nancy effort in that he played all 40 minutes – his average 39:26 minutes per game is most in the league – and was clutch down the stretch with and 7 points in the game's last 5 minutes. Batum also becomes the first player to win the weekly MVP award twice this season. He did face stiff competition this week for the highest index rating from FC Barcelona Regal swingman Chuck Eidson who tallied a 34 index in a 92-75 win over Montepaschi Siena. Eidson compiled 22 points on 3-for-3 three-point shooting plus 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals. Third on the list of Week 4’s top performers is Batum’s teammate Akin Akingbala, who was the offensive leader in Nancy’s win with 26 points on 11-of-16 shooting. Akingbala added 7 rebounds and drew 5 fouls in racking up a 30 index. The star for the losing team in that contest, Mirza Teletovic, is next with an index of 29. Teletovic pumped in 24 points on 5-of-12 three-point shooting along with 13 rebounds and 3 assists. Rounding out the list of Week 4’s best is Galatasaray Medical Park rookie Furkan Aldemir. In his first Turkish Airlines Euroleague start, the big man exploded for 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting, 11 rebounds and 2 steals for an index rating of 28 in a 70-79 road win at Union Olimpija.

Individual highs: Mirza Teletovic, 13 rebounds
Akingbala and his 26 points did better Batum for the honor of Week 4’s best scorer. The Nancy center is mow up to 20 points per game, which is tied for fourth in the league. Teletovic, whose 24 points were the second-most in Week 4, is the Euroleague’s No. 1 scorer through four games with 22.3 points per game. Teletovic was also the week’s best rebounder with 13 boards against Nancy and is now ranked ninth in the Euroleague with 6.8 rebounds per game. CSKA Moscow forward Andrei Kirilenko leads all players this season with 9 rebounds per game. Damir Mulaomerovic of KK Zagreb was the best assister of Week 4 with 10 dished in a 99-85 loss at Unicaja. FCB Regal playmaker Marcelinho Huertas tops the charts this season with 7.5 assists per game. Fenerbahce Ulker forward Thabo Sefolosha swiped 4 balls, representing the most this week in the Euroleague, in a 70-73 road win at Bizkaia Bilbao Basket. He is tied for sixth in the league with 1.8 steals per game. Caja Laboral’s veteran guard Pablo Prigioni is averaging a league best 3 steals per evening. Kirilenko’s 5 rejections in a 76-78 overtime road win at Panathinaikos were not only the most in the league this season, but his 3.3 blocks per game are the most in the league. Week 4 ultimately featured five players with double-doubles: Teletovic, Aldemir, Milan Macvan of Partizan mt:s (16 points, 12 rebounds), Nenad Krstic of CSKA Moscow (13 points, 11 rebounds) and Mulaomerovic (13 points, 10 assists).
