CBA executives visit Euroleague Basketball
Representatives of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) visited Euroleague Basketball headquarters in Barcelona on Friday for discussions surrounding the events that both organizations are planning to hold in Beijing next fall. Jordi Bertomeu, Euroleague Basketball's CEO, met for three hours with Mr. Li Yuanwei, the CBA Executive Vice President, and Ms. Xu Lan, CBA Director of Administration and International Affairs, to go over details of the Euroleague Basketball/Team China Tournament, the first step in a recently-announced partnership between the organizations. The Euroleague Basketball/Team China Tournament is scheduled for October 2007. The meeting was another in a series between Euroleague Basketball, the CBA, the international sports marketing company Infront Sports & Media and other leading specialists to open up the opportunity for European basketball in China as well as Chinese basketball in Europe. In addition to games in October in Beijing, the partnership agreement involving those parties includes clinics and other exchanges designed to foster intercultural understanding through basketball. "I am very happy with this exchange of experiences, and I'm sure that we can learn from and teach things to each other," Bertomeu said afterward. "What's more, there are aspects of technical cooperation that, with the collaboration of FIBA World, we hope to be able to develop for the benefit of a country that has hundreds of millions of basketball fans."
