Fenerbahce's Melli sets Championship Game scoring record in Final Four era
Despite his team's loss against Real Madrid, Fenerbahce Dogus Istanbul big man Nicolo Melli made history in the 2018 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Championship Game. Melli scored 28 points, more than any other player in the Final Four era. He hit 7-of-10 two-point shots, 4-of-6 from downtown and 4-of-6 from the free throw line. Four players shared the previous record with 27 points - Zoran Savic of Pop 84 Split in 1991, Antoine Rigeaudeau of Virtus Bologna in 1999, Manu Ginobili also of Virtus in Game 3 of the 2001 Finals and the 2000 EuroLeague Championship game, as well as Dejan Bodiroga of Panathinaikos Athens in the 2001 SuproLeague title game. Melli could not help his team defend the EuroLeague title, as Madrid registered an 85-80 win to claim its 10th continental crown.
