EA7 Emporio Armani signs Gentile through 2015
One of the most promising swingmen in European basketball switched Italian teams this weekend, when EA7 Emporio Armani Milano announced the arrival of Alessandro Gentile, who signed a contract until the end of the 2014-15 season. Gentile (200, 19) arrives from Benetton Treviso, where he has averaged 15 points and 6.6 rebounds in 5 Eurocup games this season. He helped Benetton to make it to the 2011 Eurocup Finals, averaging 7.7 points and 2.2 rebounds in 16 games. Later on this year, Gentile led the Italian under-20 national team to the European Championships title game, losing against Spain. Gentile was chosen to the All-Tournament team, averaging 18.2 points in 9 games. Gentile was the 2010 European under-18 Championships top scorer (23 ppg.) and has represented his country in all youth categories. His father Nando Gentile is an Italian basketball legend and a former Euroleague winner with Panathinaikos in 2000.
