Turkish Airlines Euroleague Top 16 Draw results
The 16 teams still alive in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague learned what the road they must travel to fight for European basketball’s ultimate prize looks like on Wednesday at the Top 16 Draw in Barcelona, Spain. Representatives for the teams that survived the grueling regular season watched as their clubs were drawn into four groups of four teams that were headed by the regular season group winners: Fenerbahce Ulker, CSKA Moscow, Real Madrid and regal FC Barcelona. And they all have the same goal; Arriving in Istanbul in May with the chance to win two more games and enter the history books as European champions! Every group will feature six games per team in a round-robin setup from January 16 through March 1. The teams with the best two records in each Top 16 group advance to the Playoffs, best-of-five series held between March 21 and April 5. The four Playoffs winners move on to the Final Four, May 11 and 13 at Sinan Erdem Arena in Istanbul, Turkey, where this season's Euroleague champion will be crowned. The draw was attended by representatives from all 16 participating teams as well as by Euroleague Basketball sponsors, representatives of the Turkish Basketball Federation and media members from across Europe. The draw was also broadcast on local TV and via Euroleague.net to audiences around the world.
