Top 16 profiles, D'Or Fischer
Gescrap BB managed to get to the Top 16 in come-from-behind fashion and one of its main pillars that cannot be overlooked is center D'or Fischer, whose defensive skills, experience and ability to step up when his team needed it was critical for the Turkish Airlines Euroleague newcomer. Fischer arrived in Bilbao ready to take on a very important role - and he delivered right away by becoming his team's defensive anchor, but also offering mid-range shooting and high-powered slams on offense. With its minimum goal already achieved, Fischer will make sure to stay hungry and ambitious to take Gescrap to bigger heights.

Fischer has taken the hard way to becoming a Euroleague star, by improving every season until reaching his current status. Fischer, 30, had a brief experience with Polish side Anwil Wloclawek in 2005 before joining EWE Baskets Oldenburg in 2006-07 and leading the German League in blocks. Fischer moved to Euphony Bree, to which he led to the Belgian League finals by leading the competition in rebounds and blocks. Maccabi Electra brought him in for two years. There Fischer finally made his Euroleague debut and won the Israeli League title in 2009. Last season, Fischer played a critical role in helping Real Madrid to the Euroleague Final Four.

In his fourth Euroleague season, Fischer's defensive skills are well-known by most fans - and feared by all of his opponents. His great timing and positioning allow him not only to get many blocks, but to change a lot of shots, too. Fischer rebounds well at both ends, but excels at boxing out, which leads to easy points in transition. Always ready to dunk at any given opportunity, Fischer can also knock down the occasional shot and score around the basket. His intensity, aggressiveness and toughness, however, have been Fischer's main contribution to Gescrap's success until now.

Fischer leads Bilbao in rebounds (5.7 rpg.) and blocks (1.1 bpg.) this season and has hit 69.2% of his two-pointers and 82.4% of free throws. He is also third in assists (2.1 apg.), proving his unselfishness and team-first mentality. Fischer and Aaron Jackson are the only Gescrap players to start each Euroleague game thus far.

His impact in Bilbao's performance is shown in some of the most critical games his team had this season. Fischer had 16 points and 8 rebounds in Bilbao's first-ever Euroleague game to lead his team to a big home win against Olympiacos. His only double-double came in a make-or-break Week 9 road win against Fenerbahce Ulker, in which Fischer amassed 16 points and 10 rebounds in just 22 minutes. All fans in Bilbao know that Fischer will keep giving his best by offering power, intensity and outstanding defense throughout the Top 16. With Fischer at his best, Bilbao can challenge for a spot in the Playoffs.
