Fenerbahce Ulker's new home, Ulker Sports Arena, opens
Fenerbahçe Ülker’s first Top 16 home game in the 2011-12 Turkish Airlines Euroleague marks a turning point for the club and basketball in Turkey with the opening of Ülker Sports Arena. The state-of-the-art arena is the first multi-functional arena in Istanbul and will serve as the Turkish champions’ new home. Its 15,000-seat capacity meets the growing needs of Fenerbahçe Ülker as the game of basketball and the Turkish Airlines Euroleague continue to grow in popularity in Istanbul, throughout Turkey and the rest of Europe.
Construction on the arena started in 2008. It has been designed to offer the maximum in comfort and entertainment for fans, athletes and entertainers alike. The arena’s 28-ton scoreboard is made up of 25 LED screens and is the biggest in Europe. The arena offers high level amenities including two large VIP lounges, 44 private boxes, a Dine and View Restaurant and a Super Sky Box, Ülker Sports Arena has everything needed to host all types of major sporting events, concerts and shows.
In addition to Fenerbahçe Ulker’s Turkish Airlines Euroleague and Turkish League games, Ülker Sports Arena is also slated to host a variety of concerts, including the Troya Show scheduled for February. Ülker Sports Arena is operated by AEG which owns, operates or consults for more than 100 of the industry’s pre-eminent venues worldwide, across five continents, and works in concert with affiliated AEG entities, including live event producer, AEG Live, AEG Global Partnerships and AEG Development to support the success of AEG venues across the globe.
