Euroleague Basketball, Hürriyet newspaper together
Euroleague Basketball and one of Turkey's largest newspapers, Hürriyet, Hürriyet Daily News and Hurriyet.com.tr, will join forces to promote the Turkish Airlines Euroleague in that country, it was announced Thursday at the Hurriyet Media Towers in Istanbul. The two parties signed an agreement that begins by designating Hürriyet the official newspaper of the 2012 Turkish Airlines Euroleague Final Four, to be held from May 11 to 13 in Istanbul. The partnership will then continue through the 2012-13 season, during which time Hürriyet and Hurriyet Daily News will be the official newspapers in Turkey of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague.
The agreement includes an increased presence of all the Turkish Airlines Euroleague phases before the Final Four in the Hürriyet newspaper and Hurriyet.com.tr website, as well as extended content in the lead-up to the event itself. As part of the agreement, Hürriyet and Hurriyet Daily News will publish special supplements during Final Four weekend. One of the supplements will preview the Final Four and another will be dedicated to the title game. In addition, both newspapers will host games and contests as well as bring the latest digital contents to its website, Hurriyet.com.tr, to let fans get closer to the action with great prizes.
"We are truly honored to present this agreement with Hürriyet and HDN, one of the main daily newspapers not only in Turkey, but in Europe," Euroleague Basketball President & CEO, Jordi Bertomeu said. "Euroleague Basketball always seeks to find the correct platforms to increase and develop its coverage in Europe and to bring the widest capacity to follow the competition to all our fans. For this reason we have considered Hürriyet as a perfect partner, considering its trajectory and relevance, to promote Turkish Airlines Euroleague in Turkey."
“Interest in basketball is growing each and every year in Turkey. Since the Turkish Airlines Euroleage Final Four of this year will be organized in Turkey, we are very much excited and proud to be the official media partner of Euroleage. As Hürriyet and HDN, we are taking this opportunity to encourage young generation to actively be involved in basketball.” states Mr. Enis Berberoglu, Editor-in-chief.
