You know that the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague is the only major round-robin team competition in Europe.
You know, therefore, that fans anywhere can see every major club and superstar player go against their own teams.
And you know what that adds up to – season-long drama that only the EuroLeague can deliver!
BUT…. did you know the following about the games of Round 13?
For the first time in nearly two decades...
Efes and Buducnost last faced each other twice in the 1999-2000 season. Since the turn of the century, this will be the first time they play each other in official competition despite combining for 20 seasons in the EuroLeague.
Another meeting for two old friends.
Fenerbahce and CSKA head coaches, Zeljko Obradovic and Dimitris Itoudis, worked together for many years at Panathinaikos in Greece. Itoudis was Obradovic's assistant coach and together they won five EuroLeague titles.
Vezenkov meets his former team.
Sasha Vezenkov, now with Olympiacos, will return to Barcelona for the first time since he left that team. He was with Barça for three seasons, from 2015 through 2018.
A big man faces his former friends.
Kim Tillie arrived in Gran Canaria this summer from Olympiacos in Greece. However, before playing with the Reds, Tillie spent three seasons with Baskonia, which is where he had his breakout as a player on the continental stage.
To be perfect on the road!
Darussafaka and Zalgiris met twice in the 2016-17 season and their overall record is 1-1. Both teams won their respective road games in that series, so Darussafaka will try to break that trend in Round 13.
For the seventh time.
Maccabi and Khimki have faced each other six previous times in the EuroLeague. Maccabi holds a 4-2 lead in the head-to-head standings, but the last time they played last season, Khimki claimed a 91-94 road win in Israel behind Anthony Gill's 24 points to all but clinch a playoff berth.
Della Valle likes Bayern.
Last season, Amedeo Della Valle played Bayern twice in the 7DAYS EuroCup and in both games he was the top scorer for his team, Grissin Bon Reggio Emilia. On the road, he led his team with 15 points, and at home he drained 24, handing Bayern one of the few losses it suffered last season.
A rematch from last year's playoffs.
Madrid and Panathinaikos are long-time foes in the EuroLeague and have met a total of 22 times. Last season, they squared off six times, including in the playoffs. The Greens started rolling in Game 1 with a 95-67 triumph, but it was all Madrid from there to take the series 3-1 en route to the title in Belgrade.
