Playoffs, Game 4 bwin MVP: Andrei Kirilenko, CSKA
On Friday, CSKA Moscow superstar Andrei Kirilenko added to a brilliant campaign by leading his team to the 2012 Final Four with a fantastic performance in a 71-73 road win at Gescrap BB. His 23 points and 8 rebounds equaled a performance index rating of 29, which made him the Playoffs Game 4 bwin MVP. This is also the fourth time – and second in the playoffs – Kirilenko has earned the distinction, which is also most in the league. Kirilenko scored 23 points and grabbed 8 rebounds – the last board to clinch the win and Final Four berth for the Russian champs. He only missed 4 shots and also dished 2 assists and had 1 steal in another impressive outing. The star of the losing side in that game, Aaron Jackson, had the second-best index rating of all players in Game 4 of the playoffs with 24. Jackson tallied 19 points, 4 rebounds and 8 assists in the final game of what had been a stellar rookie season. Another player that led his team to Istanbul, Olympiacos forward Kyle Hines, had the third highest index of the games with 21. Hines went for 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks as the Reds beat Montepaschi 76-69. Rounding out the list of Playoffs Game 4 stars are Nick Calathes of Panathinaikos and Vassilis Spanoulis of Olympiacos, both with index ratings of 20. Calathes had 15 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals as the Greens forced Game 5 against Maccabi Electra with a 69-78 road win. Spanoulis scored 19, drew 8 fouls and went 10 for 10 from the foul line as the Reds won.
Individual highs: Kyle Hines, 4 blocks
Kirilenko was also the top scorer in Playoffs Game 4 with 23 points. He is also the top scorer in the playoffs with 17.5 points per game. Montepaschi big man David Andersen was Game 4’s best rebounder with 11 in his team’s loss. His 7.3 rebounds per game rank fourth in the playoffs. The best rebounder in the playoffs have been Devin Smith of Maccabi and Kirielnko, with 7.8 rebounds per game. The distinction for the most assists in Game 4 was shared by Jackson and his CSKA counterpart, Milos Teodosic, with 8 each. Teodosic’s 6.5 assists per game are best in the playoffs. Three players – Calathes, Acie Law of Olympiacos and Kostas Vasiliadis of Gescrap – lead the Game 4 charts with 3 steals apiece. Barcelona’s Pete Mickeal 2.3 steals per game in the playoffs lead all. And Hines had the most blocks of Game 4 with 4 rejections, but Boni Ndong remained the playoffs best shot blocker with 2 per game.
