Khimki bulks up with big man Davis
Paul Davis - Cajasol Sevilla - Finals Treviso 2011_32216Eurocup champion BC Khimki Moscow Region has begun building its roster for next season's Turkish Airlines Euroleague with extra size by announcing Monday the addition of center Paul Davis on a two-year contract. Davis (2.11 meters, 27 years old) arrives from two seasons with Cajasol Sevilla of Spain, with whom he reached the Eurocup final one year earlier. In his European debut in 2010-11, Davis put up 12.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.3 steals in just 21 minutes per game for Sevilla, allowing him to be chosen to the All-Eurocup second team. Among all Eurocup players that season, he ranked fourth in both scoring and performance index rating on a per-minute basis. In the Spanish League, over 62 games with Sevilla and 6 with Obradorio Blu:sens, Davis averaged 13.6 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.3 steals. Previous to Spain, Davis had played university basketball at Michigan State and three NBA seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers from 2006 to 2009, averaging 8.9 minutes, 2.6 points and 1.9 rebounds per game. "According to the BC Khimki coaching staff's opinion, Davis is the very player we need now," club general manager Victor Bychkov said. "We hope that, having signed a deal with Davis, we will strengthen our front line before the start of the Euroleague."
