CSKA Moscow keeps Voronov
Evgeny Voronov - CSKA MoscowCSKA Moscow kept building a strong core of players for the upcoming future by re-signing guard Evgeny Voronov to a two-year deal on Wednesday. Voronov (1.94 meters, 26 years old) became a key player in CSKA's rotations due to his defensive skills. He averaged 1 points and 0.7 assists in 11 Turkish Airlines Euroleague games last season, but had a more important role in domestic competitions, helping CSKA to lift the Russian League and the VTB League trophies in his first season with the club. Voronov has also played for Dynamo Moscow, Krasnie Krilya, Unics, Samara, Dynamo St. Petersburg and Lokomotiv Rostov throughout his career. He helped Unics to win the Russian Cup title in 2009 and also lifted the FIBA Eurocup Challenge with Samara in 2007. Voronov is also a member of the Russian national team and has been chosen to take part in the Olympic Qualifying Tournament next month. "I am glad to stay. I heard a lot of doubts last year after signing with CSKA but I have no regrets at all. I think I can help the team more and become a better player," Voronov said. "It will be very interesting to work with Ettore Messina because I heard a lot of good things about him."
