Alba Berlin lands Morley
Zach Morley - Budivelnik (photo BC Siauliai)Alba Berlin stayed as one of the most active teams in this off-season by inking small forward Zach Morley to a one-year deal on Wednesday. Morley (2.03 meters, 29 years old) arrives from Budivelnik, to which he helped to win the Ukrainian League title in 2010-11. He averaged 11.8 points and 6.1 rebounds in 50 Ukrainian League games last season. Morley also helped Budivelnik to reach the Eurocup Quarterfinals in 2010-11 and win the Ukrainian Cup title in 2011-12. Before that, Morley played in the Spanish second and third divisions for five years. He played college ball in Indian Hills Community College from 2001 to 2003 and he then moved to Wisconsin from 2003 to 2005. After that, he travelled to Spain to play with Gandia of the Spanish third division. He played there for two seasons and in summer of 2007 he joined Leche Rio Breogan, again in the Spanish second division. He was back in Gandia for the 2008-09 season, as the team had promoted to the second division in Spain. After another good season, he was picked up by Burgos, where he averaged 14.9 points and 5.9 rebounds in 47 games, taking his team to the Spanish second division finals. "Zach Morley is a smart player with good character who understands the game," Alba head coach Sasa Obradovic said. "He was a decisive factor to make Budivelnyk win the Ukrainian League. I know him well, as I faced him in the Ukrainian League in the last two years. I am looking forward to working with him."
