Fenerbahce Ulker nabs Ermis
Baris Ermis - Banvit BKFenerbahce Ulker made its first off-season move on Tuesday, as the club announced the arrival of guard Baris Ermis, who inked a deal with the Turkish powerhouse. Ermis (1.94 meters, 27 years old) arrives from Banvit, where he averaged 9.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.9 steals in 10 Eurocup games last season. Ermis ranked fifth in assists and second in steals in the 2011-12 Eurocup season, helping Banvit to make it to the Last 16. He also allowed Banvit make it to the Turkish Cup final and to finish second at the end of the Turkish League regular season but his team stepped down in the semifinals, losing against Anadolu Efes. Ermis has also played for Turk Telekom, Efes Pilsen, Karsiyaka, Besiktas and Pertevniyal, as well as for the Turkish national team. He helped Efes to win the Turkish League title in 2005 and to lift the the Turkish Cup trophy in 2006. Ermis also made it to the 2010 FIBA World Championships final with Turkey, losing against the United States. Ermis now returns to the Turkish Airlines Euroleague for the first time since 2007, right at the prime of his career.
