Maccabi Electra adds point guard Roth
Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv has come to terms with established Israeli League point guard Moran Roth on a three-year deal, the club announced Saturday. The veteran playmaker comes from Hapoel Holon, with whom he led the Israeli League in assists last season with 8 per game. Roth (1.82 meters, 29 years old) also averaged 11.7 points and 1.6 steals per game for Holon. A product of the Maccabi Tel Aviv youth system, Roth never played for the club at the senior level. He suited up for a number of Israeli clubs, including Maccabi Ashdod, Elitzur Ramla, Ramat Hasharon/Haifa, Rishon Lezion, Hapoel Galil Elyon, Ironi Ramat Gan, Hapoel Jerusalem and Ashkelon. He has spent more time with Holon than any other team – three seasons in total, including the 2007-08 campaign in which Holon stunned Maccabi to win the Israeli championship. Roth has also played for the Israeli national team, including at EuroBasket 2007 and 2009.
