BRAZIL
Brazil returns to the Olympic men's basketball tournament for the first time since 1996, but will not settle with just being part of the event. Head coach Ruben Magnano led Argentina to the gold medal in Athens 2004 and hopes to get good results with Brazil in London. Brazil is a fast-paced, fun-to-watch team with depth and creativity. Its electric point guard duo - Marcelinho Huertas of FC Barcelona Regal and Raulinho Neto of Lagun Aro San Sebastian - will try to run the floor along with Leandrinho Barbosa, one of the fastest players in basketball. Former Euroleague champion Anderson Varejao, Nene Hilario and 2007-08 All-Euroleague first team selection Tiago Splitter combine for plenty of size, strength and skill in the paint. Former Euroleague players Marcelinho Machado, Guilherme Giovannoni and Alex Garcia will provide the fireworks from downtown. When Brazil plays, you can count on seeing an exciting team that likes to run, play with intensity and should challenge for a medal.
