Asseco Prokom re-signs three, adds Pamula
Asseco Prokom Gdynia improved its roster for the upcoming season by extending a core of Polish players and bringing in a new face. On Wednesday, Prokom announced that small forward Piotr Szczotka, center Adam Hrycaniuk and swingman Robert Witka re-signed for one more season. The club also inked Piotr Pamula to a three-year deal. Hrycaniuk (2.06 meters, 28 years old) and Szczotka (1.96 meters, 31 years old) are set to start their fifth season with Prokom. They helped Prokom to win four consecutive Polish League titles from 2009 to 2012, as well as reaching the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Quarterfinals in 2010. Both Hrycaniuk and Szczotka have been member of the Polish national team. Prokom has been Hrycaniuk's only professional team since he finished his college career at the University of Cincinnati (NCAA). Szczotka has also played for Czarni Slupsk, Znicz Jaroslaw, Unia Tarnow, Stal Ostrow, Notec Inowroclaw and Anwil Wloclawek in his native Poland. He won his first Polish League title with Anwil in 2003. Witka (2.05 meters, 31 years old) helped Prokom to win back-to-back Polish League titles in 2011 and 2012. He has also played for Anwil, Turow Zgorzelec and Zaglebie Sonsowiec in Poland. He won the Polish League title with Anwil in 2003 and reached the ULEB Cup Final Eight with Turow in 2008. Witka has also been a member of the Polish national team. Pamula (1.95 meters, 22 years old) arrives from AZS Koszalin, where he averaged 12.2 points in 10 Polish League games last season. He started the 2011-12 season with AZS Politechnika Warszawa, averaging 12.9 points in 29 Polish League games before joining Koszalin. Pamula has also played for Stal Stalowa and Polonia 2011 Warszawa, as well as being a member of the Polish national team.
