Lukoil Academic adds Watkins at center
Darryl WatkinsTurkish Airlines Euroleague hopeful Lukoil Academic shored up its frontline by signing center Darryl Watkins to a one-year deal. Watkins (2.11 meters, 27 years old) finished last season with New Orleans of the NBA, with whom he averaged 4.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 0.8 blocks over five games. He began the 2011-12 campaign with Etha Engomi of Cyprus, with whom he compiled averaged of 11.8 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.3 blocks for in six Eurochallenge fixtures. The well-traveled Watkins has also played for in China and Lebanon as well as for Sacramento of the NBA and other minor league teams in America. Watkins will now try to get the Turkish Airlines Euroleague for the first time with the Bulgarian champs.
