Lukoil Academic signs playmaker Massamba
Thomas Massamba - Etha Engomis (Photo: FIBAEurope.com)Turkish Airlines Euroleague Qualifying Round participant Lukoil Academic of Bulgaria announced the addition of Swedish point guard Thomas Massamba for the coming season. Massamba (1.85 meters, 27 years old) arrives from Etha Egnomis of Cyprus, where he averaged 9.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists in two Eurocup Qualifying Rounds games and 9.0 points in 14 Cyprus League games last season. Massamba started his career in 2003 with the Sodertalje Kings of Sweden where he won the 2005 league title. He stayed in Sweden, after two seasons in the Kings, playing for the Solna Vikings and 08 Stockholm before returning to the Kings in 2007. He played there for three more seasons until moving to Cyprus for the 2010-11 season. Now, he will try to help Lukoil earn its Turkish Airlines Euroleague spot via the Qualifying Rounds, which the Bulgarian champs will start against Pallacanestro Cantu of Italy.
