Maccabi, Mensah-Bonsu part ways
Mensah-Bonsu Pops - CSKA MoscowMaccabi Electra and big man Pops Mensah-Bonsu reached an agreement to terminate his contract on Wednesday. Mensah-Bonsu was sidelined due to a knee injury he had while playing for Great Britain at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. He announced his intention to undergo arthroscopic surgery at the end of August. In medical tests taken in Israel, Maccabi found that the player's rehab will take a longer period than the club initially expected. A new agreement was reached according to the terms of his contract to release him, wishing Mensah-Bonsu a speedy recovery. Mensah-Bonsu came off an outstanding season in which he helped Besiktas JK Istanbul to win the Turkish League, the Turkish Cup and the EuroChallenge titles. It was going to be his third Euroleague season, as he previously played the competition with DKV Joventut and CSKA Moscow.
