Baskonia Vitoria Gasteiz big man Ilimane Diop recently continued his support of the club’s One Team program by hosting a special visit to Fernando Buesa Arena.
A group of children who are supported by local charity the Gizarterako Association, which helps underprivileged youngsters in the region, travelled to Baskonia’s home arena to meet Diop, and the club recorded a great video to capture the enjoyment and excitement of the day.
The session included fun basketball sessions with the emphasis on teamwork and building confidence, and Diop, who is Baskonia’s One Team ambassador, said: “This is something very special to me because the program helps people who need it the most.”
This is Baskonia’s fourth consecutive season in the One Team program, linking with the Gizarterako Association through the club‘s 5+11 Foundation, and more information about their work can be found here.
One Team, supported by Turkish Airlines as the One Team Founding Patron and with the collaboration of Special Olympics as Proud Partner, uses basketball to achieve real social impact in our communities.
Since its founding in 2012, the One Team programme has reached already directly and indirectly 12,000 participants through its various team projects.
