Innovations allow Barcelona to make major impact with One Team

FC Barcelona Lassa have concluded another successful season with One Team, Euroleague Basketball’s social responsibility program.

Throughout the year, the Spanish club has partnered with an amateur wheelchair basketball team (UNES AFA), with the aim of helping participants with special needs feel recognised and included rather than marginalised from society.

Barcelona’s One Team sessions have also used sport to enhance the life skills of the participants, promoting key values such as effort, respect, ambition, humility and teamwork.

One specific achievement during the course of last season was appointing a player from the club’s women’s basketball team, Magette Niang, as a One Team Ambassador for the first time alongside existing Ambassador, Aleksandar Vezenkov.

The club also created a very effective mentor programme to provide additional support to the participants of One Team sessions.

One Team, supported by Turkish Airlines as the One Team Founding Patron and with the collaboration of Special Olympics as Proud Partner, uses basketball to achieve meaningful social impact in our communities across Europe.

Since its founding in 2012, the One Team program has already helped more than 14,000 participants through its various team-focussed projects.
