Euroleague Basketball is encouraging people all over Europe to take an active part in sport and physical activities by fully supporting the European Week of Sport.
This annual campaign is intended to promote physical fitness and social goodwill across the continent, and this year’s week of action will get underway on 23 September.
Euroleague has already spread the message by dedicating time to the campaign at the seventh One Team Annual Workshop in Belgrade last week.
And now the importance of regular physical exercised will be emphasised by all 40 participating clubs in this season’s Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and 7DAYS EuroCup, who will raise awareness of the campaign throughout their multiple communications platforms with fans.
Welcoming the initiative, Euroleague Basketball President and CEO Jordi Bertomeu said: “Encouraging people to participate regularly in sport and physical exercise has always been a central part of our philosophy, so it makes perfect sense for us to support the European Week of Sport.
“Playing sports like basketball makes a really big difference to the quality of people’s lives by making them physically and mentally fitter, and encouraging people to live an active life is one of the most important achievements basketball can have in society.”
One Team, supported by Turkish Airlines as the One Team Founding Patron and with the collaboration of Special Olympics as Proud Partner, uses basketball to achieve meaningful social impact in our communities across Europe. Since its founding in 2012, the One Team programme has already helped more than 14,000 participants through its various team-focussed projects.
