RETAbet Bilbao Basket is joining the One Team program for the second consecutive season alongside Argia Fundazioa, the club’s social partner for Euroleague Basketball’s social responsibility program.
Argia Foundazioa is an organization which aims to improve the quality of life for people with severe mental disorders by providing them with opportunities to work with motivated professionals and volunteers.
The Spanish 7DAYS EuroCup club is organising regular sessions throughout the entire season at Bilbao Arena, working with a group of 15 participants between 30 and 40 years old.
The main goal for the program, which started in November, is to improve the social integration of people with severe mental disorders and to teach them important values and social skills through basketball.
The project is being supported by the club’s One Team Ambassador Dejan Todorovic, and after attending his first session the forward said: “It was great to meet the participants and I’m sure they are going to have a great season with One Team.
“Like all clubs in the EuroLeague and EuroCup, here in Bilbao we are committed to helping our local community, and this program with the Argia Foundazioa means we can use the power of basketball to improve the confidence and social skills of people who really need support.”
One Team, supported by Turkish Airlines as the One Team Founding Patron and with the collaboration of Special Olympics as Proud Partner, uses basketball to achieve meaningful social impact in our communities across Europe and is supported by every club in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and 7DAYS EuroCup.
Since its founding in 2012, the One Team program has already helped more than 14,000 participants through its various team-focussed projects.
