New Milan partnership helps local school

AX Armani Exchange Olimpia Milan has activated a new partnership with the Laureus Foundation to provide important assistance to the Baroni School in the city's Gratosoglio neighborhood. This exciting initiative is part of the One Team project, coordinated by Euroleague Basketball and involving clubs all over Europe to support local communities.

The new project, which started on October 6 and will continue for the next three months, was developed by Laureus Italy and involves using a sports psychologist, Alessandra Stella, as a tutor at the Baroni School.

Her job is to support Milan's coaches during a series of practices, with the goal of encouraging the emotional and physical development of the young people in the program. Using the example of basketball, the participants will be educated to understand the relevance of respecting rules and the importance of communication.

The program will be led by exceptional coaches such as Hugo Sconochini, an Olympic gold medallist and former Milan player, and Amedeo Della Valle, a first-year EuroLeague star who is the team's new One Team Ambassador. As a special treat, the students have also been invited to attend the team's EuroLeague meeting with FC Bayern Munich in December.

The club's Sporting Director, Alberto Rossini, said: "At Olimpia Milano we are enthusiastic to collaborate on this project together with the Laureus Italia Foundation, with whom we share the idea that sport is fundamental in the growth and development of every child, even more if it is immersed in a difficult context as often can be found in the suburbs of our city."

Considering his words, the Baroni School was not a casual choice. It is located in a difficult Milan neighborhood where economic and social problems are huge, with a lack of social integration leading to daily tensions between residents.

That explains why Laureus Italy and the club, which already has a strong and active presence in the southern part of Milan, have decided to support the school in order to raise awareness about the great social potential within the area. The initiative also benefits from the help of educational coordinator Giovanni Ghidini and of Lauereus Italia project manager Lara Tagliabue.

One Team, supported by Turkish Airlines as the One Team Founding Patron and with the collaboration of Special Olympics as Proud Partner, uses basketball to achieve real social impact in our communities.

Since its founding in 2012, the One Team program has already reached directly and indirectly 16,000 participants through its various team projects.
