Disabilities/Adapted School Basketball

Ambassador: Santi Yusta

Main life skills: Commitment, Partnership, Enjoyment and Equality, Health and Hygiene

About the program: Real Madrid has incorporated One Team into the existing program of the Real Madrid Foundation entitled ‘Adapted School Basketball’, that looks to provide high quality basketball-related activity to participants with disabilities who don't usually find many opportunities to play organized basketball. All sessions are adapted to their special needs with qualified teachers/coaches. The main objectives of the program are to teach students/participants with physical and intellectual disabilities how to play basketball while embedding positive sport values such as commitment, partnership, enjoyment and equality. The program will also seek to promote the themes of health & hygiene. Real Madrid are working with 120 people (12 - 30 years old) twice a week in 9 different facilities all around Madrid, from October to June. The program is led by professional coaches and presents the opportunity, not only, to practice sport but also to integrate in regular activities with other young people from the club’s basketball schools.
