Branko Cvetkovic - BC FMP The Adriatic League regular season came to an end this weekend and defending champion FMP clinched first place by edging Helios Domzale 85-80 in Zeleznik on Saturday behind 23 points on 5-of-6 triples by Branko Cvetkovic. Cibona was finally second by beating Geoplin Slovan 82-87 also on Saturday. Davor Kus led the way for Cibona with 22 points, but Chris Warren had 8 of his 18 points in the final 5 minutes to make his team win the game. Partizan finished third at 20-6 by thrashing Zadar 90-71 in Belgrade on Saturday behind 15 points from Navica Velickovic, while Hemofarm was fourth at 18-8 due to a 77-66 road loss against Buducnost despite 22 points from Vladan Vukosavljevic. Union Olimpija finished ninth at 13-13 by topping Zagreb 72-82 on the road, while Pero Antic had 20 of his 29 points in the fourth quarter to make Crvena Zvezda beat Split 84-88 on the road. The best-of-three semifinal playoffs start on Tuesday with the following matchups: FMP vs. Hemofarm and Cibona vs. Partizan. FMP, Partizan and Hemofarm locked a spot in the 2007-08 ULEB Cup. If any of this three teams win the Serbian League, it will play the Euroleague and Buducnost will take the empty spot.

FMP became the Adriatic League regular season champion at 21-5 by edging Helios Domzale 85-80 in Zeleznik on Saturday. Cvetkovic paced the winners with 23 points on 5-of-6 three-pointers while Bojan Krstovic and Slobodan Popovic each had 13 for FMP. Aljaz Janza and Robert Troha each had 19 points for Helios, that led 71-72 with 6 minutes to go. FMP tried to break the game with a 10-2 that Cvetkovic capped with a triple, but Troha got Helios within 81-80 already in the final minute. Free throws by Predrag Samardziski and Aleksandar Rasic allowed FMP to add its final regular season win. Cibona was second at 20-6 by beating Geoplin Slovan 82-87 also on Saturday. Kus led the way for Cibona with 22 points, Warren added 19 while Andrew Wisniewski had 15 for the winners. Mirza Begic had 17 points for Slovan, that led 77-75 midway through the fourth quarter. Warren stepped up with 2 critical three-pointers and soon added free throws for a 82-85 edge. Emir Preldzic missed a three-pointer for Slovan and Kus sealed the win from the free throw line. Union Olimpija finished ninth at 13-13 by topping Zagreb 72-82 on the road. Domen Lorbek had 17 points for Olimpija, Ivica Jurkovic 15, Temmu Rannikko 12 while Miha Zupan and Goran Jurak each added 10 for the winners. Olimpija got a 33-45 halftime lead and boosted it to 51-69 to well its last Adriatic League win of the season.

Partizan finished third at 20-6 by thrashing Zadar 90-71 in Belgrade on Saturday. Velickovic paced the winners with 25 points, Uros Tripkovic added 20 and Luka Bodganovic had 13 for Partizan. Bogdanovic, Nikola Pekovic and Velickovic allowed Partizan to get a 51-37 lead at halftime. Partizan opened the third quarter with an 11-0 run and never looked back. Hemofarm was fourth at 18-8 due to a 77-66 road loss against Buducnost, that now has a good chance to make it to the 2007-08 ULEB Cup. Marko Pekovic led the winners with 19 points. Vukosavljevic had 22 points for Hemofarm, Predrag Suput added 16 and Aleksej Nesovic 14. Buducnost led 41-29 at halftime but Vukosavljevic and Nesovic helped Hemofarm to tie the game, 54-54, already in the final period. Pekovic and Zarko Rakocevic allowed Buducnost to get a critical win that may allow the team to return to the ULEB Cup next season. Crvena Zvezda finished sixth at 15-11 by edging Split 84-88 on the road on Saturday. Antic led the winners with 29 points and 14 rebounds. Mirko Kovac added 21 points, Antonio Burks 12 and Petar Popovic for Zvezda that was once again without scoring ace Milan Gurovic. Zvezda kept a slim lead all the way in the fourth quarter due to an outstanding Antic, who had 20 points in the final period to make Zvezda win the game.
