2006-07 BRITISH LEAGUE PREVIEW
|
| The British Basketball League has two different winners throughout the season. Eleven teams will battle against each other through the regular season, and even when eight teams make it to the playoffs, the regular season winner is the British League winner. The top 8 teams are involved in a Final Eight, fighting for a different trophy and one last honour. Two more competitions take place throughout the season: the BBL Trophy, in which teams are divided in groups and the top team in each group advances to a Final Four, and the BBL Cup, a straight knock-off competition through four rounds. The Newcastle Eagles will try to defend its title by keeping star guard T.J. Walker and bringing in Olu Babalola or Shawan Robinson. The Scottish Rocks and the Westfield Sheffield Sharks will be two major contenders for all titles. The Rocks kept Robert Yanders and Julius Joseph while signing Maurice Hampton and Moritz Wohlers. Meanwhile, the Sharks brought back Ed Cage, Sterling Davis and Blake Shelton, enough to challenge everyone. The London United, a newborn club, is ready to put one of the most famous cities into the basketball world. It may well be the most surprising team of the season. |
