Allianz Swans Gmunden closed in on securing home-court throughout the Austrian League playoffs when it held off second place BSC Raiffeisen Panthers 82-69 on Monday night. Gmunden improved to 28-5 – three wins more than Raiffeisen – with three games remaining. A single Swans win or Panthers loss in any game will give Gmunden the regular season title. On Monday, Gmunden led 39-34 at halftime, but increased the lead to 14 at the end of the third quarter to take the victory. Matthias Mayer led six Gmunden scorers in double figures with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Blake Hamilton added 16. Trevor Gaines had 16 points for Raiffeisen. Meanwhile, WBC Kraftwerk Wels took a big step towards a spot in the semifinals with a 98-74 win over kelag Worthersee Piraten. Pavel Stanek drilled four threes on the way to 23 points for Wels. In other games, Davor Lamesic scored 31 for Arkadia Traiskirchen Lions in a 104-79 win over Kapfenberg Bulls and Macabido Gunners Oberwart got 34 points and 6 assists from Adam Boone to beat Xion Dukes Klosterneuburg 107-73.
