Adriatic League finals, Game 1: April 14, 2007 |
Partizan got closer to clinch its first-ever Adriatic League title by edging defending champion FMP 83-85 in Zeleznik on Saturday. Partizan got a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three final playoff series, that now move to Belgrade for Game 2. Vonteego Cummings paced the winners with 26 points, including the game-winning triple with 2.6 seconds to go. Uros Tripkovic and Predrag Drobnjak each added 11 while Dusan Kecman had 10 for Partizan. Zoran Erceg had 20 points for FMP, Milos Teodosic added 18 and 7 assists, Marko Djerasimovic had got points and Dragan Labovic 10 for the hosts. Partizan used a 0-11 run that Kecman capped with a layup to get a 12-22 lead early in the second quarter. An unstoppable Cumminds and three-pointer by Tripkovic and Petar Bozic allowed Partizan to stay ahead, 35-45, at halftime. The guests boosted their margin to 39-54 right after the break, but FMP was not done. Teodosic, Branko Cvetkovic, Erceg and Labovic stroke from downtown to get the hosts within 60-62 early in the final period. The game turn into a thriller when Labovic hit another triple for a 81-81 tie. Nikola Pekovic made 1 of 2 free throws while Teodosic made both for a 83-82 FMP edge. Cummings stepped up with a huge triple that allowed Partizan to steal the home court advantage in the series and get closer to Adriatic League glory.
