Cibona Zagreb got the best of rival Partizan, FMP went on the road to stop Split and Union Olimpija needed overtime to outlast Buducnost during the second round of Adriatic League games Tuesday. The three teams are the only remaining undefeated sides after their second games. Cibona took control early against Partizan and held on for a convincing 82-64 win, behind 14 points each from Brent Wright and Davor Kus. Bojan Krstovic scored 22 to keep FMP in the game before a late charge led them past Split 72-81. In Ljubljana, Saso Ozbolt made a pair of free throws in the waning seconds to tie the game and Ender Arslan heated up in the extra period as Olimpija topped Buducnost 91-85. Arslan finished the game with 26 points and is making the most out of his opportunity, as Teemu Rannikko stays sidelined. In other games, Hemofarm beat Široki ERONET 63:52, Crvena Zvezda defeated KK Zagreb 79-74 led by an outstanding Milan Gurovic, who stays unstoppable in the competition so far, Bosna ASA BHT overcame Zadar 87-76 and Helios Domžale downed Geoplin Slovan 82-62.
Cibona moved into first place on points difference after trouncing its Euroleague Group B opponent, Partizan. Brent Wright and Levour Warren scored 5 each during a 14-2 run that gave Cibona a 31-17 lead early in the second quarter and Partizan never got back within single digits the rest of the way. Wright – who also had 4 steals – and Kus were Cibona's top scorers with 14 each, while Warren added 13 and Vedran Morovic 10. Kosta Perovic was one of the few bright spots for Partizan with 15 and Predrag Drobnjak was good for 14. In Split, the hosts came up short in the closing minutes as FMP surged to a 72-81 win. FMP scored the last 6 points of the first half to take a 30-37 lead at the break and the lead reached double-figures early in the second half. However with center Otis Hill leading the way, Split outscored FMP 11-1 to start the fourth quarter and took a 64-62 lead. But that run seemed to run down the home team as FMP and Krstovic answered with a 2-14 run to nail down the win. Krstovic led FMP with 22, Aleksandar Rasic added 16 points and 6 assists, Dusko Savanovic 16 points and 5 steals and Mladen Pantic chipped in 15. Hill finished with 18 points and 8 rebounds and Curtis Stinson 16 points and 4 steals for Split.
Buducnost looked strong in the early going running out to a 10-22 lead against Union Olimpija, but the hosts scored 12 unanswered points after that to knot the game at 22 early in the second period. A game of cat-and-mouse ensued with Buducnost pulling away and Olimpija closing the gap to 38-42 at halftime. Olimpija pulled ahead in the third period, but the game still remained close into the fourth. Buducnost again went out in front towards the end, 67-74, after a Nenad Mijatovic layup, however Olimpija wouldn't quit and closed to within 1 on a Saso Ozbolt triple in the final minute. Ozbolt would soon come through in the clutch, tying the score at 78 in the closing seconds and forcing overtime. Buducnost remained in the picture, but with the guests up 81-83, Ender Arslan stepped up, buried a three, added a layup and after Zarko Rakocevic scored for Buducnost, Arslan came through again before three more Ozbolt free throws sealed the result. Arslan finished with 26 points and 4 steals, Ozbolt added 18 and Manucar Markoisvili was good for 10 points and 9 boards. Mijatovic had 22 points and 4 assists in defeat. Milos Borisov had 19 points and 7 rebounds and Predrag Suput added 9 points and 8 boards to lead Hemofarm past Široki, while Milan Gurovic made 7-of-11 threes on his way to 30 points in Crvena Zvezda's win over KK Zagreb. Igor Milosevic added 11 points and 6 assists and Cedomir Vitkovac chipped in 10 for Crvena Zvezda.
