Bulgarian League Quarterfinals: April 23-27, 2007
Lamont Jones - Lukoil Academic Lukoil Academic, CSKA Sofia, Cherno More IG and Spartak Pleven advanced to the Bulgarian League semifinals after surviving to their respective best-of-five quarterfinal series. Lukoil downed Rilski Sportist 103-70 in Game 1 behind 26 points on 6-of-8 triples from Donta Smith. Lamont Jones added 16 and 12 assists while Gjorgji Cekovski scored 15 points in an easy win for the Bulgarian League champion. Lukoil swept its series with a 75-110 road win in Game 2. Riste Stefanov paced the winners with 29 points on 7-of-8 triples, Smith added 18 while Mate Skelin had 10 for Lukoil, that will face Cherno More IG in the next round. Cherno More needed a 89-91 road in Game 3 to down Levski and advance to the semifinals. Leven Belberov had 21 points in do-or-die Game 3. Meanwhile, CSKA thrashed Yambol 109-72 in Game 1 of the quarterfinals behind 30 points from Jordan Bozov. Carlos Cherry added 24 points and 11 assists. CSKA advanced to the next round by beating Yambol 80-93 in Game 2 behind 21 points from Bozov. Finally, Spartak Pleven swept its series against Balkan, 74-82 in Game 1 and 92-72 in Game 2. The semifinals matchups will be Lukoil vs. Cherno More and CSKA vs. Spartak Pleven.
