Belgian League Finals, Game 1: May 27, 2007 Telindus Oostende took a 1-0 lead in the best-of-five Belgian League finals by downing Euphony Bree 81-61 in Game 1 at home on Sunday. Bree hosts Game 2 on Saturday, June 2. Elvir Ovcina led the winners with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Veselin Petrovic added 16, Titus Ivory had 13 and Eric Hicks 10 for Oostende. Jeff Horner and Kelvin Torbert each had 14 points for Bree, Ben Ebong added 12 and Jim Cantamessa 11. Ovcina led Oostende in a 11-4 opening run, but back-to-back triples by Horner and Ebong allowed Bree to get a 18-19 edge after 10 minutes. Oostende did not panic, however, as a 9-0 run that Veselin Petrovic capped with a layup gave his team a 32-26 lead midway through the second quarter. Torbert helped Bree to tie it at 35-35, but Petrovic and Sam Van Rossom gave Oostende a 39-35 halftime edge. Hicks and Ivory made Oostende boost its margin to 57-45 late in the third quarter. Horner and Ebong allowed Bree to keep its hope alive, 61-54, after 30 minutes. Van Rossom and an outstanding Petrovic helped Oostende to break the game open, 75-61, and cruise to a well-deserved win.
