Bulgarian League, Game 2: October 18, 2006
Lamont Jones Lukoil Academic continues to set the standard in the Bulgarian League with a 115-48 victory over Spartak MVR. Even with scorer Todor Stoykov sidelined, Lamont Jones was in fine form, peppering the courts for 11 points, 10 assists and 6 steals. Lamont Barnes scored a game-high 22 points and grabbed 9 rebounds, while Thomas Mobley added 18 points, 4 assists and 4 steals. Krum Doychinov scored 13 and Eftim Iliev 11 points in defeat. In a nail-biter, CSKA Sofia edged Spartak Pleven 93-95. The hosts led by 6 with six minutes remaining, but CSKA, led by Adrian Pledger, fought back to improve to 2-0. Pledger had 25 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in 27 minutes to lead CSKA. Brad Traina and Greg Danielson added 15 points apiece. Hrisimir Dimitrov led Plevcen with 28, while Iliya Stankov drilled five 3-pointers on the way to 21. Cherno More downed Rilski sportist 91-78 for its second win. Aleksander Bojic scored 17 points and grabbed 10 boards for the winners. In other games, Levski defeated Dunav Ruse 88-69 behind 24 from Veselin Veselinov, while Yambol topped Balkan 82-72.
