Baltic League, Game 5: October 17-21, 2006 |
Zalgiris and ASK Riga stay as the only teams unbeaten in the Baltic League so far. Zalgiris leads Group A with a 5-0 record by beating Sakalai 87-65 at home on Tuesday. Hanno Mottola led the winners with 19 points, Kirk Penney added 15 while Paulius Jankunas posted a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds for Zalgiris. Three-pointers by Penney and Jankunas broke the game early in the final period, as Zalgiris got a 76-60 lead and never looked back. Lietuvos Rytas improved to 4-1 in Group B by thrashing Nevezis 57-76 on the road also on Tuesday. Matt Nielsen and Joao Paolo Batista each had 18 points for Rytas, which led 28-42 at halftime and never had troubles to add yet another road win. In other games, Siauliai beat Lacplesa Alus 66-76 on Tuesday, Atletas downed Tartu Rock 94-79 on Wednesday while Barons needed overtime to edge Kalev 71-73 behind 21 points and 16 rebounds from Stephen Rich.
